Letter from Pastor Dave regarding resuming worship services
As of May 6, 2020:
Dear CFC Family,
I hope this letter finds you and your family doing well. You have truly been missed by everyone here and we hope things resume back to normal soon. As your pastor, I want you to know that CFC will strive to do its part to stop the spread of COVID-19, protect the vulnerable groups of our church body, while also maintaining unity and slowly traveling toward normalcy. It’s no easy task and has been discussed and prayed for endlessly by all of your leaders here.
We are going to take measures slowly while we continue to follow guidelines expressed by the government and health officials. This letter is to lay out our initial plans for re-opening. As things change going forward, we will continue to keep you informed. Please follow our social media pages and our website for regularly updated details. The following information is decided as of Tuesday, May 5th, 2020:
We will resume our 10:30 worship service on Sunday, May 17th.
Every other row will be roped off in the sanctuary and social distancing measures will be adhered to.
For the foreseeable future, there will be no coffee or refreshments served.
For the foreseeable future, we will not have a meet and greet time in the sanctuary.
Individual communion cups will be placed in front of the chairs instead of members coming forward.
Instead of passing the collection plate, members will be asked to tithe online or to place cash/checks in the giving boxes at the back of the sanctuary.
Because of the governor’s guidelines, we encourage you to bring your own mask and ask that everyone refrain from physical contact.
On Sunday, May 17th, all children, middle school, and youth will be in the sanctuary sitting with their families. A short portion of service will be dedicated to engaging the younger children who are present.
All Sunday 9:30 a.m. Bible classes for children and adults are suspended for the remainder of the month when we will re-evaluate.
On Wednesday, May 20th, only The Mix service and the youth group will be meeting, with social distancing practices being adhered to.
We are still providing our online worship and our children’s directors will still provide pre-recorded worship and lessons for the children. We want everyone to have the opportunity to stay engaged and unified during this time, regardless of when they are comfortable with returning to the building.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation while we navigate a situation that no one was prepared to handle. We welcome your prayers as we try to make the best decisions for the church family we love so much. Just know that we are praying for you and appreciate your involvement and encouragement during this time. It keeps us going!
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Pastor Dave Burgess
